Bringing nature indoors :
My inspiration for the Glacial Lagoon range stems from my fascination and love of both Iceland and of the Arctic. Jökulsárlón - a “glacial river lagoon” in Icelandic—is a product of a changing climate. It is located at the foot of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, which began melting and retreating from the Atlantic Ocean in the 1920s due to rising temperatures. The lagoon started forming around 1935 and grew as the glacier retreated. Since the 1970s, Jökulsárlón has quadrupled in size and now measures around 11 square kilometers (7 miles) wide. At 248 meters (814 feet) deep, Jökulsárlón is the deepest lake in the country.
To achieve the effect of the icy lagoon I have used an extra large oyster shell which has then been hand painted. Textures were added to create the effect of deep waters and ice and layers of resins and acrylics inks created a feeling of movement within the water. The final effect is quite mesmerising.

Each Oyster shell dish will have subtle variations in its natural size and depth and how is has been hand painted.

The shells are wrapped in white tissue paper and are then presented in a natural, branded, sustainable gift box, nestled in white shredded & recycled paper to protect the shell on its journey.A wonderful self indulgent treat for you or a thoughtful gift to show your love for that special someone ❤️

My shells are uniquely sealed with a hard wearing gloss epoxy resin which is water resistant but I as a precaution I do not recommend submerging the shells in water and they are not dishwasher safe. Please wipe with a soft cloth.

Your bespoke handcrafted shell comes complete with beautiful gift packaging at no extra charge! I will also provide you with an image of your shell (prior to postage) to save you from unwrapping the shell if you are gifting on to a loved one.
